Institute of Law – Center for Foundation Law

Who We Are

Aim of the Center

The Aim of this Center is to provide an academic venue for all persons interested in foundation law. We offer assistance to researchers, scientists and scholars from Switzerland and abroad, let students engage with foundation law through events and seminars, and establish a communication platform for anyone involved with foundations (donors, foundation board members, consultants, and authorities).

Research and Documentation

The Center sees itself as a neutral research unit providing facilitated access to the subject matter. It collects data that the Swiss foundation sector lacks and strives to achieve full documentation of the relevant domestic and foreign case law and literature related to foundation law, if possible. Relevant materials and current developments are accessible on the Center's homepage.

Content

The content emphasises foundation law in Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Austria with a view to other European and Anglo-American law systems. Trust law is also part of our research.

Network and Cooperation

The Center for Foundation Law cooperates with a number of domestic and foreign institutions from academia and the legal practice. It maintains a law-related network, but also pursues an interdisciplinary approach. We are open for further national and international cooperation.

Support

Most of the Center's financial support comes from third party donations. We welcome further support.
